Leikhus is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and has, since its inception in 2015, created a number of productions that have been performed both in Norway and abroad.

Each Leikhus performance merges with its surroundings, the audience, and the performers, making every show a unique experience. Our team holds expertise in directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, performance and sound design. For each individual project, we bring in new stage collaborators, and we are always eager to explore new opportunities for collaboration. Our productions are created both with and for diverse audiences, aiming to provide everyone with engaging, unfamiliar experiences that often challenge traditional patterns.

The name "Leikhus" was born from the desire to create performing arts for the playful individual. Regardless of age, we all have an innate urge to play. We aim to be a space for everyone who wants to explore their sense of play—those who may have forgotten the art of playing, those who need a reminder of its importance, and even those who already embrace life with a playful spirit. Fun fact: "Leikhús" means "theatre" in Icelandic!

Leikhus was established in 2015 and has since performed within the framework of Den Kulturelle Skolesekken, på Vega Scene, Blackbox, SALT art & music, Bananaz, Cafeteateret, Divadlo Archa i Praha, 4+4 Days in Motion-festivalen i Praha, Winter Solstice Exhibition, Oslo Fri Teaterfestival, off-Hedda, Halden Kulturnatt, kunst rett vest, markedet for scenekunst, Sentralen, Teaterkjeller'n, St. Croix huset, Deichmanske bibliotek, Nasjonalbiblioteket, Gamle Munch, Sagene samfunnshus, National Kaunas Drama Theater.

International tours

Several of our performances are well-suited for an international audience, and we have gained valuable experience in adapting our work accordingly.

“The Crowd” is well suited for international festivals, as it can also be performed in English. Age group: 13+

“Astraler” is a non-verbal outdoor performance. Age group: 3–8 years.

“Vind & dråper” is a non-verbal performance for babies. Age group: 0–2 years.
